Armour Stone

Armour Stone is very large, thick, and heavy rocks that are sourced from local stone quarries.  Their original purpose was to line seawalls and riverbeds, due to their resistance to cracking, and erosion. When they lined seawalls, they acted as armour for the shore, protecting it from the crashing waves, hence its name, Armour Stone. 

These days, landscape designers love to use Armour Stone because it is durable, very low maintenance and has a natural beauty. Armour Stone is also a great material for using by the pool or garden as a retaining wall.  When they are installed properly with machinery, these large stones allow you to build a retaining wall with no mortar needed, creating a very natural and rustic look.
